A Farmhouse for Martina Pártlová

This traditional rural home for Martina Pártlová offers comfortable living within the layout of an original South Bohemian farmhouse. The spirit of the original structure has been preserved, its form sensitively reimagined, and its most valuable historical features left untouched.

Martina Pártlová wanted to transform an abandoned farmhouse in southern Bohemia into a cozy and comfortable place for family life and gatherings with friends. The originally dilapidated building underwent a complete transformation aimed at combining modern comfort with the atmosphere of traditional rural living. The result is an interior that feels elegant and timeless while preserving the authentic character of the place.

Preserving the spirit of the original farmhouse

One of Martina Pártlová’s main requirements was to preserve as much of the building’s original character as possible and to sensitively incorporate modern elements. Emphasis was placed on preserving the farmstead’s unique atmosphere and its historical value. Natural materials such as wood, stone, and metal therefore play a key role in the design.

The renovation also involved preserving the vaulted ceilings, exposed stone walls, and as many of the original wooden beams as possible. Today, these elements give the entire house its distinctive character and serve as a reminder of its rich history, while the contemporary furnishings ensure a level of comfort befitting modern living.
