An interior architect is the best friend of any good project and the biggest mistake in construction or renovation would be to postpone the interior design "until the end".

First we build, then we furnish - that may have been the way it used to be, but the modern approach to beautiful and comfortable living is exactly the opposite. It is the interior that really defines the whole project.

"In the past, it often happened that clients would come to us after they had built the house and wanted help with the interior layout and furnishing. However, the construction then became unnecessarily expensive because many things had to be redone. Today, we usually work with clients from the beginning of the project, so we can guarantee that every important detail will be thought of during the construction itself," explains architect Šárka from the interior design studio Tempus Design.

Smart home wants smart access

However, a well thought-out interior does not only involve the layout of the rooms and their use. The 21st century includes all sorts of clever technologies such as remote control of blinds, curtains and heating or sensors for automatic lighting. The location of these technologies and their integration in the interior need to be included in the project documentation and, of course, in the wiring plan. "If we don't address these things right from the start, we'll find that we can't hide a curtain motor in plain sight, for example, without having to cut into the finished wall. Or that instead of having beautifully built-in speakers, we'll have to compromise and pull cables again somewhere.

The result does not look as it should, and it will be much more expensive," adds architect Jiří.

What a good interior architect can do

Where will the wardrobes be? Will there be lighting in them? How big and how high do we want the bed? This is how we will conveniently place the switches and sockets in the bedroom. Or the exact location of the dining table and its associated light. How many water connections do we need in the kitchen? That depends on whether we have an island, a steam oven or perhaps America's favorite refrigerator. And what if we had a beautiful built-in wine rack in that island? So another power supply... These are just a few of the hundreds of details that any good interior designer deals with. And when they're not thought of, instead of the everyday joy and comfort of a dream kitchen or walk-in closet, you have inconvenience and disillusionment.

"As well as designing an interior that perfectly suits your lifestyle and taste, making great use of space and coming up with innovative solutions for your comfort, we make sure we think about all the technical issues that affect the building itself. This will save you a lot of trouble and money," adds Šárka from Tempus Design.
